Any answers grateful
Well, Jamo has a professional range since over a year or two. Don't know
exactly how good they are, since the name Jamo leaves a strange taste in my
mouth, but they exist. They _look_ quite OK (for the money).

Nice to see people actually using numbers, all be it without anything to
back it up. As has been said time and time before, the needed wattage
depends on the needed SPL. This depends on the sensitivity (and efficiency)
of the cabinets used. Once you know that, you can start to make educated
guesses about needed power. Since you (and I for that matter) DON'T know it,
you might as well have said: 1W or 100000W (for it would all be guessing).
Strangely enough it also depends on what the speakers can handle. Most 10W
speakers don't react to kind to a 500W amp.

Is that what you were doing. I thought you were trying to boost your own
ego.

Please give us more "knowledge".

Are you saying that these speakers (400 watts each) are not powerful enough
for disco use. If not, is it possible to buy some sub-woofers just for
bass and make my jamos play out just the mid/bass. Do I need the extra
sub's, the jamos are designed for disco use?

Here you are talking about watts and it made me think of another question.
On the back of my Jamo's, it says "rated power: 400 W" and below that it
says "music power: 580 W". What does this mean and what figure should I
take?

You know, I used to own a pair of Jamo's (actually they were Svenska's (same
difference)). (long time ago) :-0. Did I like them? NO, they were the
crap. The speakers were rated 150W RMS, 200W music. On examining the inside
(something I did even when I was a kid) I found a nice bass-speaker inside
with the following numbers on it: RMS rating 25W. Hey, that doesn't even
come close to said 150W.
So, is Jamo honest when it comes to RMS ratings? NO, they cheat (as do a lot
of other budget shitty brands). Are they cheating with your speakers. No
idea, I don't know about the type numbers of Jamo (have no desire to learn
too). Most Jamo's I see have a 12" bass speaker, a mid horn (plastic, driven
by a cone speaker instead of a compression driver) and a lot of Pieze shit
on the top (about 6 of them). Is this a good description of your speaker? If
it is then I'm sorry for you.
Can I say anything good about Jamo? Well....... Their Pro range seems to be
OK (for the money) and they have started to make descent home speakers since
a year or so (the high-end range, at pretty high prices BTW). Would I, in
general, endorce Jamo? NO. Do the numbers on the back of your Jamo say
anything? Probably not (sorry). Should you go and look for serious speakers?
YES. Try something like the budget range from JBL (the TR range). Always get
an amp with a power rating that's between 1.5 and 2 times the speakers power
rating (IF the speakers power rating is correct (goes for most good
brands)).
Always remember that when you buy speakers with nice Piezo's in them, you
get what you asked for: Total crap (goes for every brand using Piezo's).
