Believe it or not, it happened last night (Wednesday 12 December), on the
new (still BBC-made) version of "Mastermind", now shown on the Euro
Discovery Channel (on satellite TV).

There were about 12 questions.

Does anyone want them posted (I still have the programme on VHS)?

Questions first, with answers later?

Answers first, with questions later?

Don't bother?

Let me know...

PLEASE!

Then we can see who's the Zappa-head here..........

I'll also post (but not x-post) it to the Zappa ng.

Many thanks,

Steve.

OK (and sorry if some of the phonetic spellings are wrong - I have only
*heard* this, not seen it written)....

NOW... can I (humbly) suggest that for the time being (say, until Monday 17
December), entries are made to my (un-spam-blocked) email address
(JNugent[at]AC30.Freeserve.co.uk) *only*, and not by a post in the NG?

Yes?.. OK...

(see below)

Q1. What name did Zappa give to fellow Lancaster resident Don VanFleet?
<sp?>

Q2. What name did the band Zappa joined in 1964 have before he changed it to
"The Mothers"?

Q3. What post did President Vaclev Havel bestow upon Zappa in Prague in
January 1990?

Q4. What was the name of the mail-order record label launched by Zappa's
wife Gail in 1983?

Q5. In 1986, Zappa made a guest appearance as a drugs baron in what TV crime
series?

Q6. On Zappa's 15th birthday, his mother gave him $5 to make a long-distance
phone call to which composer at his home in New York?

Q7. In February 1971, why was Zappa forced to cancel a concert of "200
Motels" at the Royal Albert Hall?

Q8. What was the title of Zappa's tribute to doowop, recorded by the
Penguins in 1962?

Q9. For which 1960 B-movie did Zappa write the soundtrack?

(OK, there were only nine questions asked - not twelve - it's a feature of
the new "Mastermind" with commercial breaks [less time for questions])

Good luck and no cheating...

Great Googely Moogely

Yea I saw it too, couldn't believe my eyes, had to call for some quiet so I
could watch. Anyway, this means I am ineligeble to enter the competition -
of course being a Zappa fan I got them all right anyway.

I have three entries so far, from Adrian Clark, Steve Cobham and Da Rev.

I will adjudicate late tonight (probably after midnight after I get back
from what promises to be a great night out at my son's school).

Any more entries by (say) 23:00 to be safe.

OK?
