Twenty five years ago, or thereabouts, I bought a fifteen quid guitar
and The Complete Guitar Player Book 1. Anyday now, I'll be moving on
to Book 2.

The series was quite a well presented way of learning popular songs
and techniques, transcribed for acoustic guitar. I also bought, over
the next few years, all the accompanying song books, and still refer
to them often.

Later there seemed to be a whole franchise - The Complete Bass Player;
Jazz Player; Ragtime & Blues; Lead Guitar... Even keyboard courses,
all with the Russ Shipton name on them.

So who was Russ Shipton? Was he a performer as well as course writer?
What's he doing now? Did he, in fact, exist, or was he just a
corporate persona?

Mr. Shipton and his complete guitar course was my introduction to the
guitar as well.

So now you know who to blame....
