Im considering getting one as i have limited space and the learning tools
seem to be a good idea for us relative beginners so what I want to know is
are they as good as all the mags etc reckon ?

TIA

It's not bad.
You have to pay about £6-£7 a month to access the online features tho - like
downloading player tones, songs, tabs, backing tracks.
It has a range of built in effects that are free etc

seems like a good idea but to be honest i would recommend spedning money on
a techer instead, any good teacher will allow you to choose the tracks that
you play any way.

Its not Mac compatable thats a major downer for me. Plus you have to
register wth there site and pay a sub which can only be via credit
card and if you dont have one its TS and thats not right. Be better if
the tracks where burned onto CD and sold in music shops.

I have one and subscribe.

It is a great tool. First up the sounds are superb and if you set up your PC
right you can record digitally straight into Cakewalk/Cubase without having
to use any soundcard/external processing. For learning its also good as you
can use mp3 files or CDs as backing, loop areas and slow down tracks.

The online stuff I have found useful. Its a bit like having an interactive
version of GuitarWorld really whether its worth the £7 a month really
depends how much you use it. I have to say being able to download Steve Vais
master tape version of Blue Powder and play along was worth it.....

I have one. It think its great. Got it to work in line with a £50 cakewalk
guitar tracks (digital 4 track recording) from dixons and I have done tracks
and burned to cd. I think its most valuable as a tool to develop your own
style and should, like all things muscial, compliment whatever training your
are having. Or just let your ears lead the way. A lot of the presets are
more or less the same, tho you can tinker with them. The amount of sounds
you can get out of it is worth £150 of anyones money. Put it this way, you
waould have to pay at least ten times that amount for "real" digital
recording (ie Tascam digital portastudio and such like). Its a tool to use,
not the sonic Nirvana 10 grands worth of mesa boogie, eventide processor and
Tom Anderson...see if your local muso shop has one set up that you can play
with. As ever...try b4 u buy(if you can!)

Hope this helps.
