All these postings about gigs and jam sessions have caused me to ask this question. I find myself travelling to
Kent on a fairly regular basis nowadays and am struggling to find any decent music venues - in fact it seems a
complete desert! Poking around on the web has lead me to find something called the 'Soul Cafe' in Maidstone that
would appear to have occasional nights of interest, but nothing else has shown up. ANy one know of any venues
Canterbury way that might host decent music?

thanks

Hugh

The Cornford Club specialises in guitar music, and is, I think, in
Whitstable.

I have no time for the fanboys that buy the Tom Delonge Sig Strat just
because they suckle at the penis of Blink 182.

you're right, Hugh, Kent is largely a desert. There has, apparently,
been some work to try and rectify this. A new veue opened in Dartford
in 2000 but has basically hit the skids; there's also been some work
in Medway.

bung an email to my mate Mark who organises stuff down there:
mark...@hooba.fsnet.co.uk

I think there's also a venue listing on the South East Arts webshite.

Hugh, whereabouts are you in kent?
There is a pub on the lovely ashford ring road called oranges which I
think does a sunday jam session.

I live in Ashford and will accept that that part of kent is a bit of a
musical void. But things are getting better. One of the local clubs
(NV - dance type music) has bands in on some nights now.
