I've got a Fender Esprit Elite which I bought second hand in 1991 in
Edinburgh. It was made in about 1984/5 and is in pretty good condition and
has spent the last 8 or so years in it's case only being played a couple of
times a year.

Does anyone know if there's a market for these? How can I find a value for
this? I've seen Esprits for sale on the net but can't find other Esprit
"Elite" models for sale.

Any guesses?

Ta

I think they made 3 versions. The standard, the Elite and the Ultra.
Value, no idea. Being Japanese affects their collectibility side, so I
guess the value is more as to how good the guitar is and rarity. If
there are less around than people that are looking for one, then it´s
good for ebay.

I remember selling my Starcaster and it went for a decent enough price,
but there were only a few bidders (and I started the auction low).

Anyway, I ´ll give you £150 and save you the aggro of explaining what it
is to people ;-)

Anyway, good luck

David,

I'm not in any rush to sell and would have to get a pretty good offer to
encourage me to sell so quickly. I had been thinking of using it as a part
exchange for a Les Paul. Last year I took it to the music shop where I
bought it (to get a new jackplug socket fitted) and the assistants seemed
really impressed by it and one offered to buy it there and then for £75 more
than I originally paid for it all those years ago.

If they are so quick to offer you £75 more you can be fairly sure you could
get at least £150 more in the open market......

Read the recent thread about trade-in prices.

I recently saw a sunburst Esprit at rumbleseatmusic.com which went for $795.
It was a very good looking guitar.

Hi.
I have had an Esprit for at least 30 years. I bought it for £300 second hand and had to fight off a guy who had come all the way from Holland to buy it (as advertised in the Exchange and Mart).
It has a 'cache' because it has been made famous by a jazz rock guitarist called Robben Ford.
In my view it's a really excellent guitar....fantastic neck and action...one that emulates both Fender and Gibson sounds, achieved by the mini-switch toggle.
It never really sold after it was launched...probably because it tried to be all things to all people: a Strat and a Les Paul.
I wouldn't lett mine go for less than £750...and if I advertised it , I would enhance the ad with the 'Robben Ford has one' association.
All best, Rupert
