Woody Mann, Bob Brozman, John Cephas, Martin Simpson, - four Renaissance men
of blues guitar come together for an unprecedented seminar. The Acoustic
Blues and Slide Guitar Workshop will be a week-long residential workshop for
guitarists of varying levels to learn the techniques and repertoire of the
masters of the finger-style acoustic blues and slide guitar styles.

Founded by Woody Mann and Bob Brozman, this inaugural session of the
'Acoustic Blues and Slide Week' will offer group classes, workshops, faculty
and student concerts, jam sessions, and special events. The days are
structured to provide a focused program of study in a relaxed, non
-competitive atmosphere. We expect participants from many countries to create
an international community of musicians - all living together and sharing the
learning experience.

Our common belief is that the instrumental, vocal, and regional styles of
the blues are an ongoing art form that is an integral part of contemporary
guitar vocabulary. Learning the history, sounds, and techniques provides not
only a basis of understanding of today's guitar styles, but is necessary for
developing individual expression.

All seasoned composers, performers, teachers, authors, and recording artists,
these top caliber masters of blues guitar come from similar traditions, yet
each has created his own body of original work, which is bringing acoustic
blues into the next generation. The staff is completed with two music
"instigators": Kristina Olsen, Orville Johnson, both well respected
performers, recording artists, teachers, and writers.

Students are encouraged to make reservations early - space will be limited to
only 75 students.

There will be a limited number of scholarships available through the
generosity and support of our friends at several companies. There will also
be a second session of the Acoustic Blues and Slide week to be held in late
August 1999 in the San Francisco bay area, site location and exact date to be
announced.

This will be an unforgettable week of relaxed learning and hours of unlimited
jamming-- the ideal guitar vacation
