just putting out an appeal to the the UKMG crew. If anyone spots an
Angelica 335/Barney Kessel style guitar I'd be very interested in
hearing about it. I had one back in the 70's (probably about
1976/77). It followed after an Avon Les Paul and before something
else. mayeb before my first Strat. I can't remember. I do remember
that the Angelica was a nice guitar, kind of like a 335/Barney Kessel
style, but with sharp horns and block inlays. I've only found one
photo of one (which is a bit incomplete and in need of restoration)
and it's here: http://www.carrew.com/images/Angelica2858guitar.jpg
From googling the web, it seems that this is an Angelica 2858 model
and the "brand" Angelica was a name used by Boosey & Hawkes.
I saw one in Macari's in Charing Cross Road quite a while ago (maybe
as much as a year ago) and was able to pop in there yesterday for a
quick look and they've stil got it. At £350 I'm not surprised it's
still there. They think it's a collectors piece as it's a 70's
Japanese made electric and has investment potential. I'm not
convinced. My interest is nostalgic. I'd love to buy it but
nostalgia has it's limits and they're well below the £350 Macari's are
looking for!
So, if anyone spots one of these guitars out there, almost regardless
of condition, but at a lower price, do let me know please.
thanks
