Hello
I惴 trying to figure out how the chords are set to the song "Pat Reilly",
recorded on the Planxtys愀 CD The well below the valley.
It starts on F. I think a capo on fifth fret sounds nice. (play a C-shape
chord for F)
I think the chords switches C-F-C twice, then F-C-G-F(or Am) then F to G
the first verse, G-F-Am the second round.
But I惴 not satisfied with that, so I try this posting and hoping for some
good sugestions.

Regards/Tomas

I pulled out Andy Irvine's song book "Aiming for the Heart" and here's
the first verse with the chords he gives.

F Gm11f F
It being on a Monday morning, it being our pay day,
Bb Am Dm Gm C
we met with Sergeant Jenkins at our going away.
F Gm11f F
He says to Pat Reilly, "You are a handsome young man.
Bb Am Dm Gm Bb
Will you come to John Kelly's where we will get a dram?"

Hope that helps.

An Andy Irvine song book? Do tell! Publisher and availability (in
the U.S.), if known. Thanx!

It's called _Aiming for the Heart:Poetische Lieder aus Irland_ and it
was published in Germany by Song Bucherei, which is apparently part of
Heupferd Musik of Darmstadt (which I realize is barely helpful as I know
nothing of this firm.) It came out in 1988 and its ISBN is
3-923445-01-6. It has an intro by Paul Brady, illos by Eamonn
O'Doherty, a discography, and the music and lyrics to 33 songs from
Andy's solo albums, from Sweeney's Men, and from Planxty. I'm afraid
it's probably out of print. I got my copy from Andy at the 1988 North
Texas Irish Festival and I have no idea if it was ever reprinted in the
U.S. or Britain or Ireland.

...and we've been hassling Andy for a copy for a few years now. He
finally sent us one for Christmas. Unfortunately, I don't think he has
many left, but it is worth asking him at his concerts.
