Folks

We just wanted to keep you up to date with developments at Suwannee
Banjo Camp. First, we've just added Tallahassee resident Mary Z. Cox
to our old-time banjo staff. Mary was one of our instructors the very
first first year that SBC was held, and we're very pleased to welcome
her back again. Mary's photo and a brief bio are now up on our
website. Or you can go to her own website, www.maryzcox.com.

Also up on the website is a revised schedule. Not only are Mary's
classes now up, but having her on board allowed us to add on an entire
extra track of specialized old-time banjo classes. We were also able
to put in a few other interesting instructional classes and
demonstrations. So check us out!

Here are the particulars:

Dates: March 16-18, 2007
Place: O'Leno State Park near High Springs, Florida.
Purpose: Our program features hands-on classes, demonstrations, and a
big faculty concert, and still leaves lots of time for jamming with
your fellow banjo enthusiasts.
Website: www.suwanneebanjocamp.com

SBC's old time banjo staff for '07 includes Bob Carlin, Mary Z. Cox,
Mark Johnson, Brad Leftwich, Chuck Levy, Reed Martin and Ken Perlman.

We also offer a new BLUEGRASS TRACK, led by legendary player Bill
Keith.

Alan Jabbour is SBC's "official" old-time fiddler; he'll teach fiddle
classes by day and lead jams in the evenings.

Our camp guitarists are Bill Paine and Bill Dudley.

Please help spread the word about us. Word of mouth is best, of
course, but sometimes strategically placed flyers can help, too. I've
just placed a pdf for an SBC flyer on the website. You can download it
and print off as many copies as you like. They can then be posted in
music stores, brought en masse to square or contra dances and acoustic
music concerts, etc. Alternatively, if you email me
(kenpe...@aol.com) and send a postal address I'll print off a bunch
myself and mail them to you.

Hope you'll join us this year. For more information, please go to our
website, http://www.suwanneebanjocamp.com

Cheers,
Ken Perlman and Chuck Levy
Directors

Would now be a good time to remind ourselves of the ultimate
definition of 'perfect pitch'?

Perfect pitch = the ability to throw a banjo into a skip without
touching the sides.

Can I be the first to object to the fact that the location of the skip
wasn't included in the subject line, therefore forcing me to read the whole
post to find out how far I would have to throw any available banjos?

I prefer: Perfect Pitch: the ability to throw a melodian into a
toilet without hitting the seat.

I love the sound of a melodeon too. A banjo and a melodeon together sound
even better.

Throwing two instruments into the toilet at the same takes a lot of
training and skill.

LOL b-boom!

Joke: Q. Why are most banjo jokes just simple one-liners?

A. So that fiddle players might remember them.
