Keith,
I have crossposted this reply to rec.music.folk and uk.music.folk as
you may get an answer there. This band were active on the UK folk
circuit at the time you mention. I might have something about them
somewhere but as you can see it's very late so I can't check at the
moment.

Strawhead are still active. There is a website, but I don't have the URL
to hand.
Sorry,
Jon.

In reply to your post on the newsgroup. Strawhead are not considered PROG
as you put it. They were and are firmly part of the English folk scene. As
you will probably already realise they tended to sing about battles and
soldiers and very historical (that is relating to historical events)songs.
They have at least 8 records and cds available as far as I know and
Sedgemoor is not the rarest. In terms of value I would estimate it is worth
about Ł8 - Ł10. I actually have two copies of it (which might illustrate its
rarity) its cat no. is dragon 851 which means it was the first record
released in 1985 by the label which is owned by the group (although there
are other groups who have recorded on that label). Hope this helps.

best wishes
Alistair Banfield

ps other records by this group are as follows:

Farewell musket pike and drum (Tradition)
Fortunes of war (Tradition)
Gentlemen of fortune (Tradition)
Law lies bleeding (Dragon 872)
A new vintage (Dragon 892)
Through smoke and fire (Tradition)
Tiffin (Dragon 902)
Victorian Ballads (Dragon 941)
Songs from the book of England (Dragon 875/6) double album

Also the excellent Old Lamb and Flag, near enough Strawhead to be included-
complete with explanatory book. (Dragon921)
It contains the song "A marching song of the new model army". Adapted by
Greg Butler from "Lesleys March to Scotland" and " Lesleys March to
Longaston Moor"
The sleeve notes make mention that this was in response to requests from the
Sealed Knot gatherings for a 'good stirring song for the Parliamentarians'
Is there any such original songs? Or any songs in praise of Cromwell?

FYI Dragon records is owned by John Heydon, not by Strawhead. John also
runs the National Folk Music Festival at Sutton Bonnington in April and
Haddenham Ceilidhs. He can be contacted at 5 Church Street, Aylesbury,
Bucks.
There are other groups on the Dragon label, mostly English traditional.
