I am putting up a new dowloadable track every month - if you like it
please share it!
This months DOTM is a bit of a curious one. I found an instrumental
track buried in a bundle of CDs of studio out-takes from 1969 - 1971.
This one was dated February 1st 1970 and was from Sound Techniques in
Chelsea, so it puts it definitely as part of the sessions for 'Fable of
the Wings'.
At that time Bob Stewart was a renowned Autoharp player and was there
playing wonderful things on the track 'The Fawn'
The track is called 'Buddwing' and is a sort of show-offy rambling thing
that I wouldn't stand a hope in hell's chance of playing now so no
requests at the next gig please�
I must have asked Bob on the spur of the moment to play a chord in and a
chord out to give it 'atmosphere' and the poor man had to sit there
while I blazed away on the old Fender Palomino just for two strokes of
the pick. In the end it never went on the album and to the best of my
knowledge, although a live version of this has surfaced as a bonus track
on the remastered 'Stimulus', this has never been heard before.
I have digitally remastered it but sound-wise it's exactly as it went in
the can over 40 years ago :-)
