Cheesesteak at New York Pizza in Vinton.

Vinton is a small town bordering Roanoke

NY Pizza is the only pizza joint I would go to in the area. It's the only
place that makes anything that tastes like pizza. The rest of the shops in
town serve nothing more than dough with spagghetti sauce and cheese. I've
really enjoyed talking to the owner in the past, as he patrols the parking
lot. Summer time they have the best gelato and ices. Sit outside at one of
the picnic tables. It is a great place for a date

Their true accomplishment is the anchovy pizza.

However, the Philly cheesesteak is not their forte. No one in Roanoke can
make one. They keep trying to put decent cuts of meat and good cheese in
it. The rolls are awful too

Philly Cheese steak relies on not such high quality meats or cheeses

Paul's Restaurant in Roanoke. Right near the courthouses.

Great gyros

Their Greek salads are fantastic

but ask Paul what he puts on his chef salad. he calls it a secret. It's
sort of pink and looks sort of like meat but I've also thought it was just
chopped erasers

It's a great place to run into the lawyers in town though, all the old
timers, because the federal court house is across the street

not much in the way of webpage information but then they have been there
forever and are always packed at lunch so they really don't need the PR
