I write to inform readers of the worryingly "false populism" that
seems to have expressed itself in the Star and Express. In a win to
woo readers away from the competing right-wing press such as the Sun
and the Daily Mail, I believe they have started an "auction" in
authoritarian conservatism, trying to outbid each other. I do not
believe their is a deliberate political motive on the part of either
newspaper, it is driven by a ruthless commercial desire to boost
sales, without regard for the consequences of what they print. The
Star editorial line appears to actually favour the BNP over the
Liberal Democrats- in what I would describe as essentially "soft porn"
fascism. This is potentially more dangerous than the "burning crosses
and swastikas" of the traditional far-right, as it edges the fascist/
racist movement closer to the mainstream. One particular article in
the Express appeared to lend the opinion that efforts to get more
working class students in to top universities was futile, on the
grounds that they were genetically less intelligent. A supposed "poll"
by the Star appeared to indicate that 90%+ of the population would be
perfectly happy to live under a BNP controlled local authority.
I passionately believe in a free press, both leftwing and rightwing,
however freedom of speech does not include incitement to hate. It is
the job of responsible journalists and editors to ensure that their
output encourages both harmony within the UK and between the UK and
other nations. If this means a temporary drop in ratings or
circulation, so be it. It is a question of "trade pride"- producing a
quality product or service, in my opinion, is the first and foremost
issue concerning any responsible tradesperson.

And what if simply stating the truth of a matter is interpreted by you
as incitement to hate? Goodbye truth?

Well, I can only speak from the East Anglian/London scene- I'm not a
great traveller, and I'd actually say that race relations are
improving and serious crime is starting to fall. Yeah, there's a lot
of murders in London, but when divided amongst the number of people,
the level not actually that high. The town I live in has a population
of about 10,000 as opposed to seven million or more, and there's one
or two murders every year- scaling that up that equates to 700 murders
per year.

I have relatives in the East End (a road a few streets away has the
nickname of "the murder mile") and they have become progressively less
racist over the last few decades- quite simply, the longer they've
known their neighbours of different colours and faiths, the more
they've reached the conclusion that people are people. My aunt said
that most of the "hoodies" are actually quite nice chaps, and loads
nicer than the "toffs"

Similarly, it is true that some rural areas which have a practically
all white population have seen the same breakdowns in neighbourly
communication just as Powell prophesied in his "Rivers Of Blood"
speech. Immigration ain't the cause. It's cars, TV and videogames.

It ain't the liberals who live in ivory towers... it's the tabloid
editors who live behind their walled mansions in the stockbroker belt,
high on coke and pissed as newts!

Well, here's some more racist hate/truth:
http://tinyurl.com/5947a7

And as for the 2/3 white boys, guess who killed them.

If late at night I see a bunch of noisy drunk black youths coming
towards me in the street I feel somewhat more apprehensive that if it
were a bunch of noisy drunk white old ladies.

That obviously means I am racist, sexist and ageist.
Or merely realist?

Why do the BNP continually get labelled "far right" when they are the only
political party who state that they will re-nationalise the public
utilities?

If you look on http://www.politicalcompass.org/extremeright you will find
that the BNP are to the left of every other party except the Greens

In NewSpeak "far right" means anyone opposed to immigration.
Ditto 'racist'.
