Hey all!

I have noticed recently that The X Files has gone back to it's horror roots
which were established most evidently in Season 2. Recent episodes like last
nights "Theef" which I personally loved reminded me of early episodes such
as "Die Hand Der Verlezt" and "The Calusari". I think it was the black magic
theme. I personally think that this season has been the strongest season
since Season 2. I have loved every episode so far. I know a lot of people
were disappointed with the whole conclusion to Samantha Mulder but I enjoyed
it.

Anyone else feel this way?

Please don't flame me I'm only voicing my opinion!

Thanx

Philip

I was thinking the same thing about Theef. It had a very "early" feel to
it. It was like Fresh Bones, and once again, someone put the voodoo on
Scully but this time she wasn't as prepared to dismiss it out of hand. And
the scene where Peattie slaps the gun out of Blind!Scully's hand scared the
hell out of me! Something and X-Files ep hasn't done for a long time!

>Please don't flame me I'm only voicing my opinion!

Not a flame, but a small disagreement. I've disliked some of the episodes
from this season. There's been a few "filler" eps and the unsatisfactory
Samantha closure. Having said that, there's been some great episodes too,
but to each their own! I loved FPS! I know a lot of people didn't. The
acting has been consistently good which always brings a mediocre episode up
a notch or two. I think I'll wait until I've seen the entire season before
I start comparing... Personally, so far, I'm thinking better than 6, not as
good as 2 or 4.

My Girlfriend & I have enjoyed season 7 immensely. Especially Millennium,
the Magician one, and Hunger.
I must admit to being a little puzzled when people get so offhand with it.
The worst ever episodes I've seen were 'Triangle' & 'Ghosts Stole Xmas' I
reckon, (but I haven't seen em all yet).
That said, If 'closure' is the Samantha conclusion, then it is a little
weak, I'm afraid.

to even compare Season 7 to 2 is equivalent to saying Beckham is better than
Pele! The first 6 seasons had some outstanding episodes and a few poor ones,
but season 7 has just been mediocre all the way. They've got to get some new
fresh writers and not the same old John Gillnitz shite.

<nods> S2... The best eight episode opening arc EVER. Irresistible, Colony,
End Game, One Breath, Humbug, Dod Kalm, Our Town (it's a duct tape thing)
Anasazi. UST. Great character writing. Episodes that bear rewatching over
and over and over. Episodes that - ohmigod - made me cry.

Compare and contrast to:

An opening set of S7 episodes so weak I've barely watched any of them
again. A double Myth Arc instalment of laughable quality. Orison. First
Person Shooter. The Not-So Amazing Maleeni. Fight Club. Millennium. Sam
finally, lamely wrapped up <amen> The *only* good episodes in S7 (IMHO)
have been all things, Hollywood AD and The Goldberg Variation. I'm looking
forward to ending the season on a high if Requiem and Je Souhaite are as
good as online fans have said. And the gods know if any season needs ending
on a high, it's this one. It's been almost universally shite.

ADBB,
Caroline.

AT LAST, someone on the NG who actually enjoyed watching 'Closure'. I
personally think it's the best stuff they ever came up with! It was so
emotional! And I like the idea of Samantha being rescued by the walk in
spirits, so she wouldn't have to suffer any more hell on earth. I also was
VERY moved by Moby's brilliant and beautiful piece of music, 'My weakness.'
So much so it inspired me to buy his CD, and apart from the first two tracks
it's really good. Of course being a DD fan, I enjoyed getting all weepy
with his 'breaking down scene' when he discovered his mum was dying of a
horrible cancer, and that last bit 'I'm fine. I'm free!' That did it! I
dissolved into tears!

I don't have SKY, but had to go and buy the video of 'Closure', as I was
dying to know what happened to Sammy? I also ended up getting 'Biogenesis'
(which I thought was brilliant stuff) and 'One Son' (which was ok.)

I hear we get it back on the BBC on July 1st? And they are showing a double
bill every week. HOORAY!!! We also are very likely to get Season 7 in the
autumn? IF this is true, then I'll definately forgive the BBC! If NOT?
Then I'm blasting the whole lot of them with a shotgun! Not that I'm a
violent person you understand! <g>

>Episodes that bear rewatching over

i can honestly say when watching at 9pm on Sunday's I have occasionally flicked
over to watch the football or even some other shite repeats they have had on.
Season 7 has just bored me - there's nothing new or fresh. Yet, I can happily
sit down and watch any episode from the first 4 seasons and be thoroughly
entertained even though I know exactly what's going to happen!

I agree totally :)

I'm really enjoying the season so far although I did hate First Person
Shooter... Sorry :).

Aside from that one episode, I think the show is back on form. I personally
really enjoyed the Closure mythology episodes... Orinally, I thought to
myself that it wasn't a satisfactory conclusion to the mystery but then I
got thinking to how it could have ended and I couldn't think of any better
ways. Though if anybody here does have a satisfactory colclusion, post
away - I'd like to hear some. I found the episode extremely moving - from
the diary sequence onwards... Besides, it isn't necessarily the end of the
mystery - I'm sure there's a bunch more clones around somewhere :)
