As me and Victor Lewis Smith were both watching on that day then I can only
assume that it must have been their best day as far as viewing figures are
concerned.
Yeah, read the VLS article in Saturday's Mirror.
He couldn't quite bring himself to saying it all could he?
O/T Did you also read what he said about celebrity chefs?
He /might/ get into trouble for the Ainsley comments........
It was to make it sound worse than it was IMHO. If you quote someone as
saying "I invited the vicar round for *** and when he came he spilt *** all
over my ***** carpet" it sounds much worse than quoating them as saying "I
invited the vicar round for tea and when he came he spilt tea all over my
new carpet". Although VLS seems to be either quoting from memory or just
making it up when he wrote that article because some of the quotes are just
wrong. In one of the quotes he uses astrixes to censor the words 'Betty
Both'. Why?

No, I didn't. I will do now though.

Which, for the sake of future generations and current generations with
past-generation modems, I have transcribed. And written a brief
article about. Which is just introductory. The VLS is obviously
better.

Worth listening to or reading. It's much more than just the lesbian
slander moment. If you've ever wondered how presenters of channels
that nobody watch really feel about their jobs, it's revelatory.
NJJH
Thanks for that. Its everything my page should have been. I have linked to
your page now too. BTW, is there any chance that you could also host the
MP3 as I don't know how long my bandwidth will hold out. Feel free to make
it smaller if you want. I did try but the results were not too good due to
the nature of what it is.
For completeness sake, that show was from Monday 19th May 2003.
Also, on Thursday May 27th 2003 another weird exchange tock place. I have
MP3ed it. Feel free to use it...

If it's true, it's not slander.
Revelatory, certainly, but not slander.
:-)
OTOH, does it really matter a damn whether she prefers gals to guys or is as
easy with either?
What IS news is that someone has actually been able to get through the "ooh,
mustn't say that!" culture of today's censored and unexciting television.
It is, as was said here recently, controlled to a ridiculous extent that has
less to do with truth than it does to do with ratings and teasing the viewer
into believing that they are privy to something that is, in fact, just a bit
of publicist-created tittle-tattle.

Because if the Mirror repeated the libel then they'd get sued as well.
Wouldn't the quotation marks save them? The Mirror, like other tabloids,
have certainly printed things that aren't true with quotation marks around
them in the past. The whole Matthew Wright/John Leslie thing being the
perfect example.
Thats not really the point. The point is that Friendly TV left the mics up,
which is not something you hear everyday on TV. I personaly couldn't care
less what Nicole Kidman does.

Purely by accident and they only got away with it because "no one watches
that channel".
I can't host it due to *my* crappy hosting (am aiming to get this
sorted out soon) but as the file is speech only I've been able to
reduce it to around 500 kb with very little loss of usability. If you
download Nullsoft Diskwriter for Winamp and write the file as a
16kbit/s 8khz mono mp3 file you should get the same result.
>For completeness sake, that show was from Monday 19th May 2003.
Thankyou. It was a bit spurious without a date (Digital Spy is
suggesting it's all a Chris Morris spoof anyway)

OK Thanks. I'll get this up ASAIC. Can I also use your screencaps?

He really doesn't seem to want to stay working for this station, does he?
Hilarious!

Damn! 'Friendly TV' - I missed that one. Whats thats about then? Is it
any good? Is it the same Paul Lavers from shopping TV fame? Damn, has
he got a chat show or something on there?
Kidman is worse than a lesbian, she shags midgets.

Well I seem to get 3 for free at the moment with Prohosting. What I
need to get around to doing is getting a domain. Who's the best
reseller of .co.uk domains? There are so many, and very little to
choose between them. I'm essentially looking for a reasonably cheap
one. (Combined with hosting if possible).
NJJH
123-reg (http://www.123reg.co.uk) are 99% likely to be the cheapest - plus
they give you full control over where your domain goes afterwards
(nameservers, mail forwarding etc.)
I think they also provide hosting packages through the parent company, Host
Europe.

Most of the hosting packages I've seen are somewhat more expensive
than I'd like - but they also contain features that I would never use.
All I need is Perl CGI on a UNIX server and FTP access. And it has to
be one of those proper domain hosts, not one of the ones which
redirects the domain you bought to a subdomain of their own. (in case
I haven't made myself clear then, I mean like what happens when you go
to http://www.thedailybriefing.co.uk). The ability to configure
subdomains would also be nice.
Ideally I'd like a reliable but spare service providing what I
mentioned above, with the *option* of adding on PHP, SQL, etc, later
on. Hopefully this way I could also save money.
123-reg look a good bet for the domain, though; they seem to have the
UK Online seal of approval.

Nope. As a general rule, you can't just repeat a libel and get away
with it by saying that it's true that somebody said it.

T minus 3.
Yep, as long as you host them. I got a warning from my host this morning.
Would anyone? This is a station so incompetent that their website -
http://www.friendlytv.com - has a link to the payroll on the front page.
(It's under the "Our Affiliates" sidebar. Yes, okay, it asks for a
password - but still.)
Ah, satellite TV! Doncha just love it - stations come, stations go, but Paul
Lavers goes on forever!
:-))

Perhaps Paul Lavers is 'God'.
Discuss.
No. In that case he would be moving in wondrous ways, his thingamabobs to
perform.
In Paul's case, he's mooching about in the outer environs of iffy TV.
Not the same thing at all.
