"Ying Tong John" - couldn't make it up , he was Denis Pattersons
bruiser who Jimmy Nail nutted. A bloke with a crumpled nose , Imdb
reckons he was a northern folk singer . But that name - Hi I'm Ying
Tong!

A quick Google of his name says that his real name was John Strachan. I
love that particular ep of Auf Pet.

Erm, Ying Tong has a rather racist meaning round these parts though I
would hope he took the name in homage to the Goons.

There are quite a lot of clifflike features around there. Without
knowing where he started from, where he was going, and where he went
wrong, it would be hard to figure out.

The pictures in the Halifax Evening Courier

I could TinyURL the links, but right now I ought to be elsewhere.

I cheated, it looks like it's on the road from Todmorden to
Littleborough according to Google Earth.

Then I'm afraid Google Maps is wrong, it's in Calderdale which is in
Yorkshire.

Wikipedia

The historic county boundary between Yorkshire and Lancashire was marked
by the River Calder which runs through the centre of the town. The
border was altered by the Local Government Act 1888, whereby today all
of Todmorden lies within West Yorkshire. The town is served by Todmorden
railway station.
