We are having a debate at work and unsure whether these girls are
weather presenters or weather forecasters; does anyone know or have a
view?

Good luck!

Bios on both can be found at http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/bbcweather/ . It
sounds like Helen is a "proper" meteorologist/forecaster who now does
presenting, while Carol is just a presenter.

Helen Young, no question about it.

The BBC ones are proper meteorolgists (i.e they actually research and
write the weather forecasts) - the other ones are presenters reading a
script, which a trained monkey could do. Or in the case of Sian Lloyd,
already does.

I'm quite sure you're all having a mass-debate :)

Does it matter? :)

I always had a feeling Kathy Tayler was a weather girl, and later presenter,
even if she couldn't spell her surname properly.

I believe the main BBC weather forecast presenters are trained
Meteorologists and so are technically weather forecasters. The
bimbos on the BBC Regions, ITV and Five are weather presenters
with Lara Lewington being the archetypal one IMO. As for choosing
between Helen and Carol it's a difficult choice. Helen is a bit
like the teacher you fancied at school, but were too embarrassed
to admit to, whereas Carol is like your best friend's sexy mum.

As you say, the main BBC presenters are Meteorologists are are
employees of the Met Office - not the BBC. They are Civil Servants and
earn a relatively low salary, which I always thought was a bit sad.

I've met both Helen Young and Helen Willetts (really, I have). Both of them
are quite lovely. :-)

Only those who are able to vote their own pay rise.

I used to work in a DSS office and almost everyone coming in was far better
off than I was, as they got their rent, council tax paid and got more money
for each additional child they could spawn.

"Welfare to work", my best hat.
