Or more correctly snorting the contents of capsules, the little tiny
bead like things of the drug that are meant to dissolve in a specific
part of the gut. What would be the point of snorting these? they'd just
get stuck in her nose and she'd have to hawk them up/down and swallow.

Never 100% sure about portrayals of people with drug habits just getting
on with their lives, it would drag them down bit by bit like drinking
does . Bit by bit.

Keep watching - Jackie is not immune. But the storyline is that she has
chronic back pain which leads her to take painkillers and, over time, to
escalate the dosage as standard dosages were less and less effective.
I assume the snorting is to get the little particles to dissolve in her
nasal passages and enter her system faster than if they were still in the
time-release coating. And I think what she's sniffing there is some kind of
oxycontin combo.

At least we don't have to see her knocking off the pharmacist to get her
fix like last series. That said it looks like it'll turn into Fatal
Attraction!
