Hi

I'm trying to find the title of the music used in an old Vauxhall
Vectra advert. I've already tried looking at several sites, including
http://www.commercialbreaksandbeats.co.uk, but none of these sites
seem to have the answer, so I thought I'd try asking here.

The advert I'm referring to is one that was transmitted in 1996. The
voice-over was provided by Tom Baker who spoke the line, "Designed for
the next millennium". All I know is that the music for this ad was an
instrumental piece.

What I do know is that it's definitely *not* Bjork's "Play Dead". This
was used for a Vectra ad in 2000; I'm after the title of the music
used for the 1996 advert.

Clapton) around that time for _all_ it's adverts?

At one point Vauxhall used the intro to Bittersweet Symphony by The Verve
(kind of classical, but with pop style drums). Dunno if that was it though.

Hi people

Yes, you're both right - Eric Clapton's 'Layla' and the intro to The
Verve's 'Bittersweet Symphony' *were* used for Vauxhall ads but
unfortunately, neither of these is the track I'm looking for. 'Layla'
was used pre-1996, I think, when Vauxhall's slogan was, "Once driven,
forever smitten". The intro to 'Bittersweet Symphony' was used for an
Astra ad in 1998, *not* the Vectra ad in 1996.

If it helps, the 1996 Vectra advert was the launch advert for this
model and featured on-screen, for a few seconds, a large multi-dialled
clock, which showed time speeding forward.

Daniel

John Trotter worked on a Vauxhall motors jingle as did Julian Scott

Play Dead by Björk and David Arnold?
