I was watching the telly last night and saw the mighty Rod Hull with Emu on
that Clover advert and I starting thnking of all the programmes I had watched
with them in it (as you do). Does anyone have any recollection of the show
where they used to go do the weather wearing a yellow mac and hat? I wasn't
sure if it was called 'Emu's Broadcasting Corporation or not'. I remember
'Emu's All Live Pink Windmill Show' and I have to admit I didn't think much
of Grotbags. Does anybody remember what her henchmen were called? Cheers, mel

Don't remember the exact title of the programme but, yes, it was
supposed to be a TV channel (called EBC1) that Rod & Emu were running
(with hilarious results etc). They had spoof globe logos based on the
BBC ones of the time etc.

"Weather weather, what's the weather / What's it going to do? / We don't
know so let's ask / Weatherman Emu!"

I used to love Rod Hull and Emu and remember that that song was sung by
- if I remember correctly - the large rubbery 'ebc1' letters on the
studio wall. This was a cue to cut to rod and emu on the station roof,
usually in the rain, throwing barometers around and stuff. At least I
think it was. I was only about 6 at the time and that seems a long time
ago now!

Yes, it was EBC1. Wasn't Billy Dainty (hope I got the spelling right)
in this too as the cameraman/technician or am I getting two people
confused?

Gillian dragged herself away from 'Grease' and noticed that on Thu, 06

I remember the EBC jingle used to go 'Emu's Broadcasting Company', so
I guess it wasn't corporation...

Nowt wrong with Grotbags either. Ooh, must go, there's somebody at
the door (repeat ad naseum)

As I recall, whenever Rod & Emu did the weather, a blazing sun hung lazily
in a clear blue sky. More often than not, Billy Dainty did the weather, and
the rain tipped down. Oh, and the third human member of the cast was 'Betty
The Tea Lady', who is now a well known member of the Liberal Democrats (not
saying who though).
