"MTV owner Viacom plans to launch a channel aimed at the gay market as
the popularity of gay characters in mainstream programming such as 'Will
& Grace' and 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' rises."

It's about time I had a pithy new quotation in this signature.
The article says that Viacom are creating a gay channel because gay
characters are popular recently (citing Buffy as an example), _not_
that Buffy will appear on this gay channel.
Correct.
Standard apology.
what gay characters are on buffy? (except Larry and possibly Andrew)
er .. Willow and Tara?

Willow is Gay!Now!, Tara was gay (damn!), and Kennedy is gay (not that
anyone gives a toss).
Oh, and Holden Webster revealed that Scott Hope had come out as gay.

Confused? You will be.
ok now none of them are gay....theyre homosexual females aka
Lesbians...entirely different thing....gay people are homosexual males.
Still, I'm sure they could have found a better example...
That would be why Willow refers to herself as gay on numerous occasions
then...

Oh my. How much you have to learn.

A lot of educators tell students, "Think of your principal as your pal."
I say, "Think of me as your judge, jury, and executioner."

The word "gay" has been adopted as a generic term to cover both male and
female homosexuals (aka lesbians). Even *I* know that and I'm an ageing
Buffyatric!
The fact that this was posted on April Fool's Day gives me a little
hope that he's joking. Only a little though.
not my fault if people dont know the correct terminology.
many folk who study sociology will also inform you that the term "Gay" does
not refer to all male homosexuals....
Well to quote an online dictionary:
gay
ADJECTIVE: Inflected forms: gay·er, gay·est
1. Of, relating to, or having a sexual orientation to persons of the same
sex.
NOUN: 1. A person whose sexual orientation is to persons of the same sex.
USAGE NOTE: The word gay is now standard in its use to refer to homosexuals,
in large part because it is the term that most gay people prefer in
referring to themselves. Gay is distinguished from homosexual primarily by
the emphasis it places on the cultural and social aspects of homosexuality
as opposed to sexual practice. *Many writers reserve gay for males, but the
word is also used to refer to both sexes*; when the intended meaning is not
clear in the context, the phrase gay and lesbian may be used. Like the other
names of social groups derived from adjectives (for example, Black), gay may
be regarded as offensive when used as a noun to refer to particular
individuals, as in There were two gays on the panel; here phrasing such as
gay members should be used instead. But there is no objection to the use of
the noun in the plural to refer collectively either to gay men or to gay men
and lesbians, so long as it is clear whether men alone or both men and women
are being discussed.

You're right - it's not our fault if you don't know the correct terminology.
You're wrong. Please, just accept this and move on.
shoosh
Chris, Chris, Chris you're just wrong. So very wrong. Silly silly boy....
