Is anyone else annoyed with the producers and writers of Brookside for not
saying anything about the death of the actress who played Julia? Sje was the
best thing about Brookie, and I think it's a shame that nothing has been done
to mark her passing.

Yes, I am. Every episode I waited for something to be said, but Ron
cleaned the house, now Max is talking of doing it, and still no mention of
Julia. She was great, she
deserves better.

The least they could do is give her a good send-off. I hate when the soaps
send characters off to another country instead of having them die. Are soap
writers and producers afraid of natural death? Does it always have to be a
plot device?

They may well find another actress to play her - after all she was a great
character and I imagine that Phil Redmond (I almost said Paul Raymond!)
knows a good thing when he sees it.

There is nobody who could replace Julia with her
maloprisms--maloprops-malopr--er, upside down way of saying things. But
another character actress in a 'similar' vein would be a bit of light
relief, there isn't any since Jimmy and Sinbad abandoned their double-act.

I thought they were going to 'replace' Julia, with the Granny Shagwit
character......but nothing seems to have come of that........unless they
were testing the water?

I hope that last night's (2 Oct) episode wasn't the last that we'll hear of
Julia. The things that were said about Julia going to a beautiful place with
the man she loves were nice, but it would have been truly touching had they had
the guts to let Julia die. I think the producers and writers missed an
incredible opportunity to let the actors show some real emotion. The cast must
have been affected by the death of the actress, Gladys Ambrose. Why not let
the viewers share that? Would it be too much to ask?

Personally, I think these things should be up to Gladys' family. If they
had asked for her not to be "killed off" then this should be respected.
For what its worth, I think the way they wrote her out on Friday was
really nice and a fitting tribute to a great character and actress.

I too agree with the way they wrote her out - it was a very touching part of
the episode and I liked how the camera lingered on her photograph. Very
fitting indeed.
