Am I the only person yet to notice that Jessie Shadwick has also played
another character back in 1990-1991, called Betty Hunt-(I think, I may have
to refer in my Brookie Book).

Wasn't she also in a TV commercial for a floor cleaner?

She was Arthur Parkinson's widowed sister. Arthur was a big cheese down
the Commonwealth and Empire Club and a bete noire of Harry and Ralph. They
both fancied their chances with her.

I posted something to this effect when she first (re-)appeared.

Please note that the Total Brookside book mistakenly refers to her as
Betty Parkinson in the mont-by-month summary.

She was in an advert (over twenty years ago - possibly about 25) for some
sort of slimming aid. Her lines were something about having an "educated
stomach".

20 years ago? How did you remember that one?
Now you mention it I have a vague recollection of it now, I'm amazed
as to how you could remember such an advert so long ago.

Neil.

Betty was the sister of Arthur.

Arthur was the Secretary at the Legion when Harry Cross was trying to get on
to the committee.

The actor that played Arthur was also in Crossroads as Stan, husband of Jill
(Megs daughter).

Hmmmmm....

"You'll wonder the yellow went, when you brush your teeth with Pepsodent",
or even: "Murray Mints, the too-good-hurry-mints". Both from the late 50s.
Adverts are deliberately designed to stick in the sub-conscious, so
remembering them usually isn't the problem.

The reason Margi Campi/Campo's (sp?) advert stuck in my Liverpool-born and
educated* mind was:

(a) she did it in her own educated Liverpool accent, and

(b) at the time, hearing a (genuine) Liverpool accent on TV was about as
common as coming across a hen's tooth.
