I Still Love Tim Minear

Seeing video clips on Cult BBC,
'Judging Amy' a threat at Fox whim,
Reminded me that whilst the season bugs me
I still love that mini-god Tim.

So while Angel's a jerk and Cordy's a saint
And Wesley and Gunn get more dim,
I'll continue to rail, to rant and to faint
But still love that word meister Tim.

Not Pikelet, not Clark, nor Dr Valenti
And Niall, no... no way, not him.
If one's to make sense of the season for me
It's got to be Wonderkid Tim.

She's a whatnow?

We are talking about the same Cordelia Chase, right? The one that threw
Fred out of her flat in TVT because she was tired? The one that was all
bitter about Angel lying to her in 'Offspring? The same Cordelia Chase
that chatted up guys in the gym under the pretext of doing work in 'Carpe
Noctem'?

OK, so she's more mature now. She's better at empathising. But where do
you get 'saint' from?

At the sound of the tone, it will be exactly one week, five days, one hour
and two minutes until the next Minear episode.

He's a prolific man, don'tcha know. OK, so he's 'only' writing three eps
this year, plus two co-credits and a directing-but-not-writing, as opposed
to five eps plus two co-credits last year, but it's still a lot.

Plus, this year, Mere Smith? Also rocking my world.

Do you know which eps? Just the numbers will do, if you know them?

I'd go looking myself, but I've got huge anti-spoiler issues just
recently, and well accidents happen...

Writers for episodes through....well, through the end of the season, since
we know them now. No episode titles, since, well some are spoilery.

For this season - in general - Minear's work:

03. Written: Tim Minear, Directed: Fred Keller
05. Written: Jeffrey Bell & Tim Minear, Directed: David Grossman
09: Written & Directed:: Tim Minear
14: Written: Tim Minear and Jeffrey Bell, Directed: Tim Minear
20. Written: Jeffery Bell, Directed: Tim Minear
21. Written & Directed: Tim Minear

(Bell did TVT & 3x08 also)

This does indicate he's directing two in a week, unless he's covering
for Bell's first directing shindig (as suggested on ata).

Noted. It was intended as a silly poem brought on by
watching the Tim Minear clips.

i'm not exactly chuffed at the
>sentiments that form the first post in the thread.

The sentiments aren't new. And they are mine. And known
to any who has read my past posts. They were not intended to
offend you or invite further discussion on points that have
been covered before.

I happily admit that 'saint' was an exaggeration for the sake
of poetic license.

>it takes two. i just want to point that out.

Point taken. I hadn't intended it to start a debate. It was an
attempt to amuse.

Ah, but _Angel_ has 'the curse of 13'.

Season one: 'She'.
Season two: 'Happy Anniversary'.

Can even Joss break the curse...?

> followed by Tim, then Mere, then DG.

I was right with you until the 'then DG' part. Not got a whole lot of
faith in the man after 'Offspring'. Still, the ep hasn't actually aired
yet, so who knows? Could work out well.

Fingers crossed, anyway.

And now, I must really go and work, instead of sitting here answering News

Fair point. Not *all* that bad an ep though to cause me to lose a lot
of faith yet but...

Right. In a fit of bored uninspiration, and a bout of acute

I came up with a rather...interesting version of the above text. In

I was going for a goofy voice on that whole section. And a more
'angelic' voice for the Cordy line, although I'm not sure that didn't
get lost in the 'mix' (well, the one-take guitar, one-take vocals
recording with some mild compression, normalization and level mixing..)

Worse in a good way. I assume. Yes, it makes sense. *nervous smile*
I'm sure it was meant as a compliment.

Is this a not-so-oblique reference to me? If so, it's far more common
than one (well, I) might expect. Saskia thought I was a Girl. Someone on
UMTB thought I was a married woman (which amused the Pikelet most
muchly..) Oddly, I'm neither.

pronounce 'nile'.

How is it not a girl's name? Unless it is something like 'Andrea' I tend not

Ok.

Oddly, I think I mentally pronounced both names with an "ee" sound (n-ee-ahl,
mat-teeah) wheras they're probably both pronounced with an "i" sound (nile,
matt-iah)? Which may (or may not) have some bearing on the gender I ascribed
to them?

I think it's more the writing style though.

I assumed from the name (ending with an a usually indicates female in
English names) that you were a girl. Then I spotted that you were Dutch -
which suspended the above rule. I was then informed you were in fact male
- which was fortunate as it happened before I had made any embarressing
assumptions online.

Who knows. FWIW, it's pronounced 'mahTEEah' (which is the same as

Pretty much. My Dad had an Irish friend, so when he was asked how to spell
'Neal' the first spelling that came to mind was 'Niall'.

I know a guy at Balliol called Niall, 'cept he really does pronounce it

Mostly like this:

"Phwooooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaarr

Isn't willow's arse the best thing ever!!!!!!!

I'd do her alright!!!"

Which I guess is why (in the absence of obvious names) anyone who can string
a grammatically correct sentence together, let alone comment on the salient
points of an episode, tends to fall into the 'female' badged section in my
head.

(although I'll go ahead and admit it: the writer of this pathetic excuse

There is a lot of that sentiment, if better expressed, in both the buffy and
angel groups. Each to their own, and all that, but the shaggableness or not
of the various characters and/or the actors that portray them isn't something
that warrants prolonged discussion in my book. That might be a gender divide
thing, or it might just be me *&)

Hey noted *&) It was a dreadfully unfair and sweeping generalisation, but
also a feed line not to be missed. And not without truth either...

They're more foreign than the rest.

Well, no. It was never a conscious policy, I was just a little surprised
when I realise that those two were blokes having never previously given it
any thought. I think maybe there are no conclusions to draw, I was just
confused *&)

uk.media.tv.er

There seems to be a significant amount of lusting going on in there.
Usually about short bald men or an 'errant' someone or other. It was all
very distressing last time I looked.

It's a very special group. With very special people in it.

Why thank you, Craig. How sweet of you to say so.

Josh: No. You're listening to me, but you're not understanding me.
Toby: No, I'm disagreeing with you. That doesn't mean I'm not listening
to you or understanding what you're saying - I'm doing all three at the
same time.

You have been found out. Post! It's not like you have to watch ER to take
part. It's like umta but without all the annoying guilt about ontopicness.
And all the silliness and lusting (which there isn't *that* much of) is
often tongue-in-cheek, too, unlike the example "willow poster" thing. Mwah.
And if umte's full of special people, then umta's extraordinarily special. <g>

Eve

-promotions co-ordinator. a natural at the job.
-umta and umter relations officer. 'cause both groups rock.
-this job creation thing is fun. Anyone else want one? They're free.

No. It was sarcasm meeting sarcasm in a big ole head-on collision type
thing.

>/me ducks and runs..

And there Eve and I were, just the other day, telling the rest of the
'special' people on umte how great you were. [1] Meh.

Christy

[1] Not - I'd like to point out - in a 'Phwoooooaaaar, Isn't Mattia's
arse the best thing ever!' way at all.
