Hi

Does anybody out there listen to Late Night Love with Graham Torrington
on their local commercial radio station?

I live in Norfolk and we get it on our local area. I just wondered how
wide spread this programme went out as I gathered that the people
phoning in were quite obviously not all Norfolk people.

It's carried across the whole GWR network of local FM stations. See
www.gwrgroup.musicradio.com for more information.

As maybe many people may point out. Late Night Love is on many of GWR
Stations such as yours Broadland 102. You can hear it on many others such
as Leicester Sound, 2-Ten FM (for Reading and Basingstoke) etc etc. I
suppose some people like some don't..

Don't forget that it's on THE MIX on Sky Digital as well! So really,
it's broadcast all over the country.

Isn't it a shame that some kids (and others) listening to their only
local commercial radio station in some areas are forced to turn off
after 10 as all their stations are GWR?

The show doesn't really boost commercial radio listening figures... or
does it???

I think it's carried on Sky Digital across the country.

Late Night Love is all over the place, where I live I get three stations,
Leicester Sound, Hereward FM AND B97 all saying that "Graham Torringtons on
tonight" It's sick and sad radio... I can't imagine that it doesn't do well
in the ratings though because GWR are not known for keeping loss making
programmes are they!... I think catering for the lowest common denominator
is what they're doing, instead of going out on a limb, (like my own station
has) to provide original, local and live late night programming.

I personally like LNL with GT, but feel it would be much nicer if a local
radio station stuck purely to local shows with local phone-ins. I feel there
is far too much interaction between local radio stations ie. for those that
have more than one commercial station but all airing the same show. Surely
this kind of programme is aimed along the lines of a countrywide station such
as Radio1. It really annoys me that they try to make out you are the only
station receiving the programme!

As for kids turning off at 10pm, they should be in bed anyway and it is rated
18.

Thanks for all your comments.

Hands up how many people thought it was a local programme?
I feel sorry for all the people who phone the midnight matchmaker lines at
£1 per minute expecting to find someone local to them.

I agree on our gwr station I heard a presenter say he was talking to graham

That may have been true though... maybe yours is the "mother" station
that broadcasts to the rest and he was really in the next studio. More
likely though that they were still just trying to convince people it was
a local station!

They're all up to it - even though Galaxy makes no bones about some of their
shows being networked, Alex Pepper always talks about KC turning up in the
building. Funny that as far as I know KC broadcasts from Birmingham Galaxy.

Did do. Has she not moved up to Leeds for the regular late night bit. Because
Jay Smith was Leeds-based.

I remember a Galaxy 102 DJ dragging Tim Lennox in from the other studio (where
he was prepping for to do the draw. But Kiss/Galaxy used to acknowledge their
network locations.

Depends on what your station is. If it has the networked
programme of Mel+Rob's Hot 30 countdown, then you would have
heard them say that. You could even hear Graham's replies to
their questions.

Depends if you were listening to a station carrying Mel & Rob's Hot 30
countdown. They usually have a chat to Graham just before his show. You
can actually hear his voice as well. Was this the case?

I don't know where Graham is (for all I know, it could be some wierd
pointless satellite link), but I can tell you that Mel (and probably Rob)
broadcast from Cambridge's Q103 - she is a regular DJ on there during the
day and at weekends. But I understand she moved from somewhere else - so
maybe they (GWR) rotate their DJs.

Well.. it's obviously got you sucked in ;o)

So, let me get this straight... Mel's in Cambridge, Rob's.. well.. somewhere
else, probably, and Graham can still talk to them through the glass from
Swindon. He owns a loudhailer (which is why he sounds so husky on air.)

Yup... up to 3 times a minute. They've got swivel chairs, y'know.

Can I just say, you're all doing terribly well.

Much love

I agree....I know I am in Bath and Bristol is local but the fact that
everyone in the UK gets to phone in it isn't very local....so I listen
to Jason Neal on Bath FM cause he is good...

Well, hmph. I do listen to the radio after 10pm, while I'm on
the PC or in the shower at night, and I'm 14. I can't stand the
fact that they put this stupid thing on just about every station
I can pick up here and I'm forced to turn off my radio. All I
want out of the radio at night is music, and I can't stand these
X-rated phone in shows that they put on. Can't they just put
them on Talk Radio or something?

Hmmmm...... well I wanna hear some X-rated radio, instead of another 30
minutes non-stop of the ahem "new" mix. I'll swap you a Galaxy for a GWR.

Thank goodness for Century radio even though I'm really too young to listen.
