Start The Week (Monday at 09:01) about 7 or 9 weeks ago. It was on the
beeb site, for a while at least - check there first. I do know there are
copies out there as I had one kindly sent to me but it blew my isp link!
Demon said it was too big and deleted it from their email server!

but entertainment which is intended to be consumed like food,
forgotten and replaced by a new dish.

It was (I was told) just a half hour of audio - not sure the exact size
(but was 30+ megs). When I had the glitch in the download I phoned the
Demons and the guy just said "way too big man - it's well stuck!" (yes I
should have asked him the exact size - but I didn't - aargh!). He said
"we'll have to delete it to let your mail through" so I just said "yes,
do it, and do it now" - I really need my email link in the working day!
I was desperate for my business email. So that was that.
I should have used one of my POP3 accounts, but nevermind. BTW I only
added the comment to indicate that the audio file would be a biggy.
Someone (by email) suggested to me that I should send a 100meg file to
the pisstaker? (who?) just to prove his 'free' isp provider's ability?
I declined - I wouldn't lower myself.

Wow. What are the beeb using for compression - a bicycle pump?
30 minutes of audio using Real Audio can be squashed into 3Mb and is
still very pleasant to listen to.

Yes, someone from this group very kindly sent me a RealAudio (or
was it .mp3?) of the relevant part of that Start The Week.
It was a great listen, but deleted now, I'm afraid.
That 20 minute part of the program was 2 Mbytes as I recall.

I've had a 25Mbyte email of through Demon without apparent difficulty --
other than download time ;-)
