I get the impression that there are a lot of bitter and twisted old
farts in this group and it would be GREAT...to hear something positive
for a change!

Yes I agree. It is time for someone to admit that the Steve Wright show is a
good afternoon's entertainment. Any offers?

I'll stick my neck out, not that the subsequent ridicule worries me......

I've always enjoyed Steve Wright, ever since his R1 days. There's not a lot
of his fans in this ng, that's true, but it would be a boring world if we
were all the same. In fact, the whole R2, indeed Beeb, ethos of inform,
educate, entertain is just what we need these days. From Bunty, TogMeister,
Brucie through to JW & Aunt Sal - it's intelligently funny & educational.

Those that miss the Steve Wright slant on this, well, that's too bad......

Yes, there's parts of it that I too find slightly cringey - too many Whoops
& Yo's, for instance, especially at the start of the show (sorry, Yo, not
you !). That wouldn't stop me listening, though - the music's just too good,
also.

I like his banter with the Quiz contestants, who obviously don't take
themselves, or Steve, too seriously - but that's the point. It's only Radio
entertainment, meant to put a slight smile on your face for a fleeting
moment.

To those who've compared him to the aural equivalent of The Sun newspaper -
imho he extracts some interesting info from his studio celebs.

It's also great to here The Old Woman genuinely laughing along with Steve -
she certainly 'gets it'.

I've not 'come out' too often in Steve's defence before as there didn't seem
the point in speaking to no other fans !
Great to know there's at least 2 of us, Tom.............. :0)))

Regards to all R2 fans !

Roo.

Have to agree with you there although I could take or leave a lot of the
Sunday output

And I have to say I enjoy Friday's Round Table (which I avoided in the Rosko
days) and think I could stand it being longer than 30 mins. I think SW
manages to tame his personality somewhat during this section of the show
although sometimes it just sounds like an excuse for a party.
