This is all very interesting; If it turns out to be any good, that'll be
another nail in the coffin as far as my R1 listening goes. I've been
finding that a lot of my friends who were R1 devotees only a couple of years
ago, are starting to listen to R2 more and more. Seeing as they're all
under 25, this would seem to show that R1 is narrowing it's target audience
beyond belief, leaving a huge age range that R2 can't possibly fill, can it?
If R2 becomes more popular with the twentysomethings, then it's bound to
alienate the over 35's.
Of course, I'm not saying that one show will do this all, especially one by
Steve Wright, but it's another indication of the direction that things seem
to be taking on BBC national music radio.

As the (updated) old saying says:
"Leave a million monkeys with a million computers, and eventually they will
write the greatest literary work in history"
The internet has disproved this theory.
I also don't expect Steve Wright will be allowed to do all the great stuff
he did on Radio 1 - Sid the Manager, etc etc. After all he has been playing
it very safe on his Saturday morning show!

What about Fred Cresswell, the cinema manager, 'OK Yah' the yuppie,
the voice-over man, and Mr Mad? There were also a number of 'celebs'
like David Bowie, Keith Richard, etc, who I think were all done by Phil
Cornwell?
Roy and Ray (?) the men of Kent, Hopeless the Weathergirl, Down-the-pan
Daleks, the Gary Davies Quads. Ah, happy days.........

My fave all time sketches were the Arnie Terminator and the Dalek
ones. Does any one have any of these on tape?

Indeed it was Phil Cornwell. But what about Sid the Manager (aka Kevin
Greening's dad), Llamaman and the Arnie parodies ("I asked you to repaint my
car yellow and you have painted it puce. Puce is a girl's colour. UZI
9MM!!!!)
Can't imagine them getting an airing in Stewpot's old slot where the only
thing of interest is the quiz (sample question: "Aren't you dead yet?")

Agreed. I can't imagine Lusty Linda's phone-lines on afternoon Radio 2
somehow...!
I've just remembered Paranoid Man too. It's all coming flooding back...

I certainly used to have the Arnie one on tape, and a load of others too.
Erm... Don't Touch This... the Mr. Food Song... erm... My Definition...
Plane Delayed... blimey. Nostalgia. I'm sure I've still got that tape
*somewhere*.
Didn't they get on Top of the Pops once with the Arnie song?
