Really - the same number of dwellers under rocks as there are Archers.

This is beyond a joke.

Was she Metcalf before - Paul is Mack?

Maybe they'll be the ones that boil over. Would that
be any consolation?

We first heard Paul in October 2022. Alastair & Jakob didn't know that
Denise and Paul were mother and son to start with. When that was
revealed, there were comments about them having different names and how
were they expected to guess. We were told that Paul took his father's
surname.

We have been hearing of Denise for quite some time, but she made her
first appearances in August and September of 2021. At that time we
didn't know her surname. We heard from her again in the May to August of
2022, and during that time it became known that her full name was Denise
Metcalf. We haven't heard from her since then.

Something odd about this week's cast list is that it is completely
disjoint from last week's. Nobody appears in both weeks. I don't think I
have noticed that before.

Thank you Carole. I remember the lack of known link between the two but
given that the practice is part of a larger group with people moving
back and forth it is hard to believe that there was not some knowledge
beforehand.

Clearly Snappy will be married within the year.

I wonder if that is deliberate?

The BBC is desperate to reduce expenses and I wonder if the bean
counters are looking at the studio costs? If you were to ensure that
there was no cast overlap between the one week and the next one you
could have two weeks - maybe even three - of recordings made in the
same studio time, couldn't you? Have the read-throughs, the
run-throughs and the recordings scheduled efficiently in different
rooms. Two entirely different groups of people weaving in and out of
each other. What could possibly go wrong?

Cast members who are required to shout, now need a longer rest period
between recordings in order to preserve their voices.

Sadly yes, increasingly on BBC radio. I prefer old podcasts where
people spoke clearly with no music at the same time. Even wearing
hearing aids some voices are hard to hear properly and with and
without aids (as I listen at night going to sleep) I hear some
frequencies magnified unpleasantly and some not at all.

Having just replaced the loudspeakers in my bedside radio, I thought
the changes were down to the new, improved drivers. I shall listen
more carefully tonight.
