You are all invited to my birthday party, which, due to the inclement
weather, will now have to be held indoors. My original intention, to take
each and every one of you up Lakey Hill, will have to be postponed. But I've
booked the village hall, so we can do it there instead. Bring your own
booze. I'm too skint to treat you all! (Anyone seen that bunting?)

Thank you, Ally. I've asked Fallon to make cakes and small cheese
pastries too. I gave Jolene a hand to bring some crates etc over too
and bottles.

Is it OK if I brings TNMF? I promise he won't be any trouble.

What a good idea! We could have Ally's group play music to dance to
maybe?

I'll bring all the morris girls as well as the band, and we'll teach you a
dance! We'll be better than those loafers over at Edgeley or wherever it is!

You should have picked the site of the Bad Taste Awards. There was
plenty of bunting strewn around the place when we left and I'm pretty
sure there were still a few unopened tinnies too.

But what we really need to know (see other thread) is how well do you
know Jacey Bedford?

No buntings, but we have lots of goldfinches if that's any use.

I'm glad you moved things indoors, it's a bit parky up on that hill.

P.S. Many many happies.

Slacking on the job here, sorry, Ally, Kiri and the catlings. Hope those
three didn’t bring you gifts they chose themselves!

Happy belated birthday, mopmob.

It's the RIP Les Barker thread. It appears that almost everybody
here[1] knows Jacey Bedford one way or another.

Yep, just a bit. I know of JCB, but never heard of Jacey Bedford.

Les Barker. Never ‘eard of him. But a couple of weeks ago I had a chance
to talk to Gerard McDermott. Among many tv, fillum and radio parts he’s
been in TA. He said “builder” but it wasn’t recently, nor was it Jason’s
best friend. Not a lot of detail on radio work but he happens to be on a
disc called “Guide Cats for the Blind”, along with Les Barker. Why was I
doing a zoom with him? He has Nystagmus. There was only six of us took up
the invitation. Although he’s a bit younger than me, but not so much, he
didn’t get pushed into specialist schools. A very interesting chap. He
writes books, has just written a play for the theatre, and sometimes is
part of the BBC’s drama company. Don’t think I’ll go far with Henry IV pt
1 though.

Les Barker wrote all the poems on “Guide Cats for the Blind”.
Peter White read "I can't find my camouflage net" on that collection. Other
contributors include Terry Wogan, Ned Sherrin, Charlotte Green, Heinz
Wolff, Nicholas Parsons and Roy Hudd. It raised money for the British
Computer Association of the Blind.

Yes.
In this case, she read Voicemail (Your call is very important to us...),
Brian Perkins got 'The shipping forecast'.
I believe all tracks are available on YouTube.
