I am about to buy a Sony Wega KV 28FX60, and think it is probably a good
idea to get a 5yr extended warranty. I know that the likes of Currys and
Comet are

Oops - pressed send a bit too soon.

As I was saying, I know that Currys and Comet do extended warranties, but
they seem way overpriced, and the TV itself is about 400 pounds more
expensive than I've seen it in other adverts.

Does anyone know somewhere with reasonable prices on both the warranty and
TV, or alternatively, are there any companies which will sell me an extended
warranty separately?

Thanks,

James

Two words - John Lewis.

They will price match anyone (even the box shifters that advertise silly
prices in magazines) and give a free 5 year warranty.

I got a KV32FX60 at John Lewis (Cole Brothers, Sheffield) two months ago for
£1100. I'm not sure how much a KV28 will set you back but John Lewis
definitely stock them.

Cheers,

Graham

Take a short course in Contract Law - you will find that Section 14 of the
Sale of Goods Act will help you if the thing breaks down outside the normal
1 year warranty. Extended warranties are a con and totally unnecessary if
you know your rights.

Can you give us a short lecture on it then?

There has to be a lawyer on this list somewhere who can help you :-)

I'll second this recommendation. Purchased my Panasonic PF10 36" set
from JL., they price matched the best deal I'd found, threw in a five
year all-inclusive warranty and it was an "engineer" delivery, meaning
they actually unpacked it, set it up, put into place and asked me if
there was anything I wanted explaining about the set ! Super !

John Lewis and Bentall offer free 2(to 5?) year free warranties on
electical goods over £300(I think).

You may need to check the threshold price to verfiy this,
Also get them to price match.
