Hi

I'm looking for a home cinema speaker system, and have found the following
interresting...

JBL ESC-333
http://www.jbl-audio.de/home/series/index.dyn?TAG=0000000000002EEA&ID=000000
0000002F45

JBL ESC-340
http://www.jbl-audio.de/home/series/index.dyn?TAG=0000000000002EEA&ID=000000
000000439D

It is a 5.1 speaker system with built-in Dolby Digital decoder (the 340 has
DTS too and a larger center speaker).

Is it worth the money (cost about £310/£490) or should I go for another
setup (recommandations please)?

Best regards
Rene Pedersen

I had the ESC-333 Simply Cinema, but traded it for the Sony HTK-215. The sub on
the JBL made a constant hum, and when using a phono source ie TV or Video, when
ever there was a quiet passage in the sound, the auto detect feature would
switch the amp off for about a second with a very annoying 'click' before
coming back to life. JBL called it a 'feature'. I called it a fault. Also, no
DTS decoding. All in all, I couldn't recommend the JBL ESC-333 I'm afraid.
