Hi all,

Having just got a PS2 i've decided that my old TV really isn't upto
the job and i've been looking to get a 28" widescreen.

unfortunatly being a student i cant spend more than £400. i've done a
bit of research and i was going to get the Toshiba 28W93B as its been
mentioned alot as a generally good all-rounder. i've seen it for sale
at tesco for £380 with stand and delivery.

but after some more reading i've seen the Philips 28PW6006C for £370
with stand and delivery, which looks pretty good as well. but its not
really mentioned much in the newsgroups.

can anyone help me pick one over the other, or suggest another to make
my life more difficult ;o)
all replys welcome.

People do not seem to be confident of the the Philips brand, that's why it
is rarely mentioned. I found it difficult to get my vcr's and Tv's
repaired, some firms do not want to look at them.

...I had this dilema a little while ago, settled on a Grundig 7030 in the
end at £500 from Currys. If you look hard enough you will find conflicting
reviews on just about and widescreen TV you care to mention, it's a bit of a
minefield.

My advice would be to try and demo the sets within your price range and
choose the one YOU like the look of best. I noticed that the Samsung sets
had a nice picture too when I was shopping around.

PS: Make sure you try all the screen aspect ratios on the sets, I noticed
that almost all cheaper widescreen sets (& some expensive ones too) had
subtle (some not so) geometry defects.
