I will soon be a owner of a Dolby Digital (upgrade from Dolby Pro Logic)
system. Can anyone suggest me some good DVD movies in order to demonstrate
the DD5.1?

Thanks in advance

Off top of head:

Star Trek: First Contact
Das Boot DC
The Mask of Zorro
Blade
Lost In Space
Armageddon
Batman & Robin
Starship Troopers
Goldeneye
Tomorrow Never Dies
True Lies (when it finally appears)

There are plenty of others. Note that a couple of the above are *awful*
films, but with great sound - use for demo purposes only...!

BTW - please don't cross post questions like this to so many newsgroups in
future - it's not generally regarded as good netiquette.

(Followups set to alt.video.dvd and uk.media.dvd).

I have heard only great things about this dvd. Awesome all the way around.
check it out.
Getting mine from music blvd.com for like $6 which includes shipping! if you
are a new customer there's a $10 off coupon (which is how I got it so cheap).
Good luck.

This is a great disc! I have watched it several times! Makes you feel
like Mario Andretti is racing his car right through your living room!
Believe me, everyone who is there will look at you and say "Wow!" It's
truly impressive sound and video.

Godzilla, Air Force One - anything with lots of environmental noise (and
probably explosions).

I would agree. SS is one of the best DVD's I have heard. It is great. When he
turns that car on just the idle shakes your living room. GET IT!

Armageddon, Big Hit, Tomorrow Never Dies, Blade, Lost in Space, Twister, DVD
Spectacular DD trailers, Super Speedway, Godzilla (good one to test if home
theater is too noisy or sweet sounding on high levels), Frighteners,
Dragonheart (check out the flying Drago scenes), Starship Troopers ......
after these, you'll be addicted to DD sounds. Enjoy but beware.

* Dark City. Great movie, too.
* The Fifth Element.
* Shine (not so much the DD5.1, but just a very beautiful, and well mixed
sound track)

Outbreak is a great 'benchmark' for DD5.1 and picture quality.

Lock stock or Desperado if you want to check your rear speakers out.

Dances With Wolves, the DD version is stellar (Buffalo Hunt scene) but I
still am looking forward to hearing the DTS version. 10 bucks for the DD at
DVDEXPRESS.com. Great movie too.

Lost In Space - First shot (from rear) from the future Robbie Robot in
the time bubble. (I shat myself!)

Music Boulevard was folded into CDNOW a while back
and (I believe) CDNOW was purchased by someone
else, tho it is still operating via www.cdnow.com
