Anyone auditioned these two centre channel speakers? Is the LCR6 worth the
extra money?

I have listened to both and own the CC6. I think there is a difference
between the 2 but for the money the CC6 is pretty much unbeatable. I also
brought home a CDM centre for a couple of days. That was impressive too (and
huge to boot!) but in my opinion not worth twice as much. Unless you have
high quality partners to go with it I'd go for a CC6.

For the record I'm running it with 603s2 fronts and 602 surrounds.

Hope this helps.

Yes and yes, but not necessarily in that order! :-)

The LCR6 is a very fine speaker, and well in advance of the CC6
soundwise. It should also be noted that it is a *much* better match to
the 601/2/3 S2 than is the CC6. Of course, 3 LCR6s are even better,
but that's a grand! :-(

Sounds like you've got an almost identical system to me, Tony! Like you,
I've got the 603s up front, 602s behind and a CC6 (an old series 1 model)
centre stage. As both the 603s and 602s are in cherrywood and the CC6 is
black ash, I was tempted to upgrade to an LCR6 in cherrywood just to
complete the set....

So you'd recommend the LCR6 over the CC6 as a centre channel, right? I've
currently got a set of 603 series 2 up front, a set of 602 Series 2 behind
and an old CC6 centre stage but I want to 'upgrade' the CC6 with either a
new Series 2 CC6 (in cherrywood - my old CC6 is black ash) or an LCR6 Series
2. Based around my current system, it sounds like the LCR6 is the one to go
for. Would you say that the LCR6 would compliment my 603s and 602s better
than the CC6?

You could also Listen to the new CDM CNT centre I know it is a little
more ( 395 I think ) but it is a great speaker although large I have
one of these with a pair of CDM 9NT's at the front and the sound stage
is awesome find a decent HI FI shop that can demo them for you with
you with a pair of 603's and pick which you like only your ears will
tell you rather than what we advise.

Have fun listening

Doug.

Yes, if you're using S2 600 series speakers in the rest of the system.

Yes, and not by a small margin! :-)

Seriously, with the excellent speakers you have in the rest of the
system, the LCR6 is an absolute steal for a centre speaker - it takes
most of the hammer in DD 5.1 movie soundtracks, and it was built to do
that job. I've been doing a *lot* of listening to HT speaker systems
recently, and your system is by a mile the most cost-effective
solution with the LCR6 centre - you have to spend a shedload of cash
to do better.

Yes, the new B&W NT system is slightly smoother and harder hitting -
at triple the cost. Also, I'm not really convinced that the CNT has
the guts of the LCR6. I have a suspicion that they sacrificed function
for style after horrified reactions to the sheer size of the HTM-1,
which to my ears is the best centre speaker that money can buy.

Thanks for the advice, Stuart - sounds like my pocket is going to be 350
quid lighter very soon.... ;-)
