1. Go to www.homecinemachoice.com and read some of the reviews there.
This will give you an idea of what sort of features are available. Do not
take too much notice of the prices they quote however.
2. Once you have decided what type of set you need, widescreen - size -
flatscreen etc, have a look at models from Sony, Philips, Panasonic,
Toshiba, JVC etc.
3. When you have decided on the make and model, you then need to look at
prices; try the following;
http://store1.europe.yahoo.com/qed-uk/televisions.html
http://www.slb.co.uk/
http://www.empiredirect.co.uk/
www.unbeatable.co.uk
4. Now if you have decided on a Philips, Sony, Panasonic or JVC print the
best price you have found on the internet and take it to John Lewis who will
match it, give you free delivery and a free 5 year warrantee. I did and
saved £260 on their normal price!
One set does come to mind though with a budget of £1000 and that is the Sony
KV32-FX20. I ended up with the DX20 which is much the same as the FX20 but
with an internal Ondigital tuner and 3 SCART sockets rather than 2.
I am very happy with my DX20 and the picture is outstanding from my Samsung
DVD 909 via RGB.
I hope this helps and feel free to mail me if you have any more questions as
I have just spent weeks making the same sort of decision.
