I've decided that I just don't see enough foreign language movies. I used to
able to rely on BBC2 for these but they haven't shown anything significant in
years.

Can anyone recommend a DVD rental service with a good selection of foreign
language movies?

Can anyone recommend a NG or internet site(s) with reviews and discussions of
foreign language movies.

I already subscribe to SIght and Sound.

Thanks in advance.

Also as an alternative, but maybe not the best now, is to sign to
FilmFour if you have Ski Digital. They used to have a good selection
of foreign films, but with the latest changes they have done to the
channels I can't say if it still stands true.

And are you only interested in Rental or would you also consider
buying?

Bit of a bugger that film 4 seem to have stopped their 'world' channel
that was mainly foreign language films!

Anybody know why that happened?
Film 4 extreme has gone as well.
My first year with sky in my new place (subscribe to everything and get
a free dish etc) has just finished and so I've cancelled all the film
channels except film4 ..... and they go and chop 2 out of the 3 channels
... the bastards!

Je suis thinkie le Amelie type film et tre bon!

Thanks to everyone who replied.

I already have FilmFour etc and like Gareth I'm not impressed that they chopped
the main reason I used their service - foreign language movies.

I'm not sure why they reorganised but I think it's a cost cutting mechanism the
same reason that they've pulled out of film production. They believe that
they'll have more money to spend on TV productions. t As I now call them the
Big Brother Channel along with E4 I think they've dumbed down and lost sight of
thier original intent to provide alternative programming.

I will buy foreign language movies. I thought that if I can find a discussion
NG or web site then this would give some better idea of the movies. Renting
also seemed sensible as a sort of 'try and buy' option. After all, foreign
language movies don't generally get discussed in the magazines I buy and
they're a minority interest in the UK.

Although I subscribe to S&S and Empire and read film reviews it takes more
print to decide on movies to rent/buy.

Thanks Again to everyone.

P.S. also apologies I meant to post this to a different NG and I've been
waiting for it to show there? Worra klutz :)

BBC4 had a world cinema season recently which was pretty good and seem to
show good films on and off...

Rendezvous In Paris - 24/06
Une Liaison Pornagraphique - 25/06
The Secret - 26/06
