Hi, I need to get hold of a long VGA cable to connect to a projector, but
I've read that very long cables don't push enough signal and therefore no
picture is displayed. Would this happen with a 4m cable?

Does it make any difference whether I get standard VGA cables or the more
expensive SVGA cables? I'm only gonna use up to 800x600 res.

I don't think there _is_ an SVGA cable as opposed to a VGA cable -its the
same thing ...although someone someplace will no doubt be selling
alternatives. Think of it like you're connecting a monitor... would you
expect a 'lesser-quality' signal on your monitor depending on which cable
you use? I don't think so.

We use a 15m VGA lead to run through the roof to a ceiling mounted projector in
our work conference room - no noticeable signal deterioration.

Indeed. There is the old 9 pin EGA connector and the newer VGA 15 pin
connector. SVGA uses the same connector and cables as VGA.
