Last Xmas Argos were doing the Alba 108Xi at a good price and we bought one
for the in-laws. great for their needs i.e. library rentals. Anyway, I
have some camcorder footage from a couple of family parties etc. that I can
make into either a VCD or preferably a DVD. I can do + or - R. Will any of
them work with this player - Remember it's an Xi, not just the plain 108.

Thanks.

I had the Alba from Argos and it played DVD-R's fine. DVD+R don't work as
far as I'm aware. But it doesn't have an LCD display. Handy tip - I used to
work for Argos, and they also get a Cinetec DVD player sent under the same
cat number (533/4049). It comes in a brown box. Ask the morons at customer
service if they'll give you one of those ones instead. It has an LCD display
and is just nicer.

Both play VCDs, but I think only the Cinetec one plays SVCDs. Never tested
SVCDs on the Alba.

Thanks, I'll try a -R. I think this may be a different machine as it has
LCD and it was last Xmas so I doubt they will change it now! :-)
