Hi folks,

Has anyone seen this TV in the flesh yet, or even better, does anyone own
one? I have the Sony catalogue and it seems similar in spec. to the KV32FX60
wega. I'm not sure if it has hit the stores yet but one bloke in House of
Fraser Nottingham said he could get one in on special order buy November
3rd. I have checked my local Sony Centre (which incidentally is filled with
spotty 16 year old vultures who know little or nothing about the any of the
products they sell). These two outlets both quoted £1900 for the set which
is a joke seeing as www.av-store.co.uk(which showed as the Bristol Sony
Centre last time I ordered and checked my bank statement). And
www.hutchisons.co.uk both advertise the set for £1599 and I even spotted one
mail order place (Edgeware HI-FI) selling it at £1519.

Still, sorry about the ripp-off rant there. I really like the look of this
set in the catalogue but if it looks kack switched on then there's not much
point in getting one.

I also have a few questions for owners of existing Sony Wega 100Htz sets:

1. I know that most of the digital processing that comes with the 100Htz can
be switched on/off but what about the 100Htz processing itself. (I know you
are all going to say why don't you just buy a 50Htz set, but the Art Couture
does not come in that variety yet & I'd like to have the choice)
2. I heard about problems with poor geometry and bad set-up from the
factory. Is it difficult to access service menus and such like to make the
necessary adjustments?

Any thoughts appreciated......
Cheers in advance,
Chris

The factory settings on most TVs in my experience are not perfect as it
probably carried out in 30 seconds by an overweight lady called Maud.
However the clever bods who designed the hardware have produced a set
capabble of very high quality images. The factory brightness and contrast
are way too high as idiots in TV shops tend to buy the TV with the brightest
picture.

The service menu has the same UI as the normal menu and if you are capable
of adjusting a PC monitor display (pin cushion, v-size etc...) then you
should have no worries.

Search for "WEGA SERVICE" on deja for further instructions.

Hang on a minute.

£1599 for a jazzed up 32FX60? Why not buy a normal one for £1050 with a John
Lewis price match and spend the change redecorating your lounge in tones of
grey and black to match the TV? Perhaps some discrete orange lights to
finish off the room?

I still think the current style of psuedo silver squared off fronts and boxy
black plastic rears of both the Sony and Panasonic ranges are just deeply
naff and cheap looking. I keep being reminded of my father bringing home a
great slab of a "music centre" in the early seventies (orange lights and
flares indeed...). I just prefer the look of my 3 year old Trinitron wide
with its sloped back side speakers and the curved back & sides. Why do
all the new sets look like the Sony and Panasonic ranges or like, Sharp &
Samsung, copy those hairdresser specials from Philips ? "Cool green"....only
if all your walls are white and you have no other furniture in the room bar
some chrome frame waiting room chair.....

Pete.

Price match of £1050?

Would someone kindly point me in the right direction, then I'm off to
John Lewis!
