The way customers and the employees in all departments at Techtronics
were treated is nothing
short of disgracefull. I have to say I have never working in a place
of petty beaurocracy and so
much unhappyness in all my life.
I continue to read with concern all of the problems Techtronics
customers still appear to be
having, it is with this in mind I have decided to make this post to
try and give some insight
into the way Techtronics really do behave to both their customers and
staff.
With regard to the Techtronics policy regarding customer complaints,
there is NO coherent policy
whatsoever. On most occassions I would go and see Karl King in his
office with what can only be
described as a massive ammount of complaints. I would go through the
list of complaints asking
what I should do with them next, this is because nobody other then
Karl King had the authority
to give the go ahead to spend money on putting right a customers
faulty dvd player. If the
customer was very angry and sent in an angry letter Kark King would go
out of his way to be
awkward, it was as if he took offense at people complaining about the
service. Most of the time
service the customer received was very dependant on the mood of Karl
King, if Karl King was in a
mood ( not unusual ) the customers basicly had no chance of getting
anything done. If the quite
legitimate complaint required money to be spent on it, there was very
little chance of the
repair going ahead in the short term. Techtronics are very happy to
take your money, they on the
other hand are not so keen to spend thier money putting what are quite
basic mistakes by their
workshop right.
I would also like to point out most of the faults with dvd players are
down to faulty workmanship
from their own technicians, I use the term technician very loosely
because the engineers are not
qualified at all, anyone who can use a soldering iron can get a job at
Techtronics, if Techtronics
try to defend themselves by saying they do train their workshop staff,
they are telling fibs. I
would say to any qualified technicians out there, would you work for
five pounds an hour, thats
what the Techtronics engineers get and as much hastle as they can
take.
If people could see the volume of dvd players returned for credit they
would not believe it. There
were sometimes so many players waiting to be checked and returned to
stock, we knew it would take
weeks to check them and refund the customers. Please note, these same
players would then be sold
as new players, again if Techtronics try to deny this, there are very
many people who complained
and returned their dvd players as it was quite obvious fron the
packaging they were now second
hand. Also there are very many people out there who can confirm the
great length of time it takes
to get a refund from Techtronics.
While I was at Techtronics very many customers were so appauled with
Techtronics they took county
court action against Techtronics, I can confirm during my time at
Techtronics every person who
had taken proceedings against Techtronics won their case. This itself
should confirm the actions
Techtronics take and the decision making within Techtronics is
fundamentaly flawed.
I guess there are people out there reading this posting saying I have
an axe to grind, I would
say to you all, I do not have an axe to grind at all, I do however
have a concience, I would not
and could not treat people the way Karl King and the other directors
of Techtronics treat people.
The mentality of the directors of Techtronics is one of financial
greed, they do not care what
they have to do to make money and who they have to lie to.( They do
tell a lot of Lies )
I would also say to those people thinking of making a purchase from
Techtronics. You should first
speak to the trading standards department for the Bourne Lincolnshire
area, you will find they
have recieved many complaints about the business practices of
Techtronics, this really should be
enough to put you on your guard.
During my time at Techtronics, it was fairly common knowledge one of
the directors of Techtronics
( Chris Tay )had to appear in court in Paris France. I am not too sure
of the exact nature of the
charges although the gossip around the Techtronics office at the time
was it was something to do
with serious offences relating to the supply of counterfiet or fake
goods through his web site.
I am sure if this is not correct Techtronics or Chris Tay (
Techtronics Internet Director )will
be able to explain the exact nature of the offences and what the
outcome of the court case was.
I would also say to all of the people who are still having problems
with Techtronics, take county
court action now, it is the only thing you can do to win with
Techtronics. They do not listen to
reason at all and will argue black is white if it means they do not
have to pay you.
Techtronics will attempt to remove this posting as soon as they are
aware of it. Techtronics know
only too well how much damage the truth would do. I would ask all of
the customers affected by
Techtronics to keep this message posted for unsuspecting customers, so
they do not have to
suffer as you and I have.
I've complained to trading standards here in Coventry about them as their
prices do not include VAT which is misleading and against the law (According
to Cov trading standards anyway)
The number of people I get quoting their prices at me ex VAT who think that
it is inc VAT makes me wonder how they stay in business.

Simon.
No, it is illegal not quote your prices including VAT unless you are solely
for trade only.
I was once warned about this in writing by Coventry trading standards when I
ran a shop for Superfi as the their service prices used to say £34+VAT, this
is against the law and should have been £39.95 as we were selling to
consumers.
Simply putting "prices exclude VAT" isn't enough.
Maplin were also warned about this as their catalogue used to have ex VAT
prices more prominently than inc VAT, they are now the same prominence.
(They printed an apology to this effect)
Of course different trading standard department interpret the law
differently, but here in Coventry they will take action unless you oblige
them.
It is pretty misleading anyway and courses me and my customers problems on a
daily basis.

Right or wrong, it is 'standard practise' for computer hardware
suppliers to quote and list prices ex vat.
Most folk accept this.
Many thanks for your post. Very best wishes in your future job....

if you go to the US/Canada all their items, including those in the shops are
minus taxes.

'Course, in the US, if you're ordering online (from a company based in another state) you don't pay
sales tax... so it would be a bit silly to list their prices with tax included. It's very different
for VAT.
Perhaps I'm too cynical but when I see a message like that from an
anonymous e-mail address making a lot of unsupported defamatory
assertions about how bad a business is my first thought is competitor
or malicious trolling. Pretty obvious point but just because some one
says they are an ex-employee and have no axe to grind it doesn't make
it so.
But in the context of al the bad things we hear about them it seems pretty
reasonable to assume that it's true what that guy is saying.
He seems to know a lot about the management of the company as well

Unsupported?, there has been loads of horror stories about Techtronics
on here and other web forums.
I don't give the post much weight personally.
