Okay i have the 9527 Philips tv

On one of the menus there is a progressive scan on/off option.

How would i connect a prog scan dvd player to the tv for this to work?

There are 3 scarts 2 are rgb - 1 is composite and there is a s video connector
on the side of the tv?

Dave.

it's probably internal progressive scan rather than being able to accept the
input of a progressive scan dvd player.
better than no prog scan at all but not really comparable to when the dvd
player does it (other sets like my loewe did it internally too).

So should i have it switched on or off?

It just seems to soften the picture when applied.

Pixel Plus is siper sharp.

The softening of the picture is a side effect of the progressive scan mode
(whether from a DVD player or TV) the benefit of doing progressive from a
prog DVD player is the reduction of artefacts. It depends on the TV of
course, my Metz Artos has internal prog scan which includes 3:2 pulldown
:-).

I simply can't watch PP on my Philips. 100 hz does the job for me. PP
turns "Lawrence Of Arabia" into an episode of "Grange Hill". Ghastly
effect!
