I am going to buy a Samsung DVD 807. I was goinng to get a player later on
this year but have to take up this great offer now.
I was about to buy a new TV this weekend and what it to be compatable with
the Samsung but I am stuck between buying the Panasonic TX2PF10 (the new
pure flat screen) and the Philips 32PW9523 (green).
Please can I have some help my decision must be made on Friday.

My cool green philips went back, and was replaced by the 32"wega. after a few
adjustmentsin the service menu for blue line ,top of the screen and a coupleb
of geometry settings, followed by tweaking with "video esentials" i am
delighted with the wega.-----What a set , " when you get it set"!!!!!!!!!!!!!
cheers PeterB.

Hi Peter,

I was thinking about a Sony WEGA aswell, not yet mind, but in the late
Summer. What is this blue line business you mention? Was it easy remedied by
fiddling with on screen menus?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi guys. Why bother with these 32" sets? For a couple of hundred quid more
you can get the Sony KP41 rear projection set. Though this is a 4:3 set it
is switchable to 16:9. Alright, youve got the black bars top and bottom in
this mode (which isn't 4:3 letterbox), but the image is still much bigger
than on a 32" set. Also when watching 4:3 sources you get the full 41"
rather than having black bars down the sides or a squashed image in 16:9.
Oh, and the picture quality is superb. Only disadvantage is the physical
size of the thing.

Regards, CraigT

What is the brightness like and view angle range? I've seen these sets before in
the show rooms and the contrast is really poor unless your watching in total
darkness. I wasn't really impressed. Can you comment?

Thanks

Nick :)

All of a sudden there seem to be loads of budget ws tv's on sale -
e.g. I saw several in Savacentre today. Has anyone any experience of
these, or read any reviews? UKL450 (I think that was the Goodmans
price) vs UKL1k+???

There are, but the old saying "you only get what you pay for" applies here.

I have a Bush 28" widescreen, bought for £499 at Currys. It's not that bad,
though it lacks any frills. The picture is acceptable but lacks the
brilliance and colour saturation of a better set. The RGB doesn't work well
with the 807, or my Sky Digital for that matter, the picture appears soft
and lacking in contrast. I usually leave it set to composite video.

I'll spend more next time and get it right.

Roger
