originall box and insert.
Is it legal now ?
Also is it legal to buy Porn from , lets say www.adultdvdemire.com
or similar ??

much about the legal part but I don't think the UK can't restrict the
import of something that is available in the UK? Maybe its against the
object of free international trade or something?
It would be interesting to hear from people who are no longer getting
their porn seized from customs to gauge an idea of how true this UK
customs rumour is?

I think that the ban is on selling adult material via mail order, and
not buying via mail order.
Thus, a retailer can be prosecuted for selling on-line, but it is not
illegal to buy it on-line/mail order. Or am I wrong?

tolerance" for magazines for some time but this did not apply to videos. If
they suspected someone of being a dealer, then they wouldn't bother with a
seizure notice but turn up at your house early one morning, conficscate
anything that looked remotely dodgy and charge you with an offence that can
result in a significant jail sentence . Even if they dropped criminal
proceedings, your life would probably have been ruined by then anyway (see
www.melonfarmers.co.uk for examples of this).
The situation now is that Customs will allow "R18" type material through,
so European dealers now have a significant advantage over those in the UK,
which strikes me as grossly unfair and possibly illegal under European
trade laws.

large number of adult international companies importing into the UK and
it now being legal (?) this hardly seems fair for UK adult shops who
may also want to provide adult material by mail order. A solution to
solve this would be to provide UK adult mailorder companies with some
sort of age verification system/special adult delivery service? for
proof of age etc that would be approved by the home office to enable
British adult mailorder companies to keep up with foreign competition?

Such a system is all well and good but the problem that we've always had in
this Nanny state that we live in is that the British government doesn't
trust the adults of this country to safely keep porn away from minors. They
prefered (up until recently) to take this responsibility away from us....

How about we keep our adult videos/dvds in child-proof containers like
the ones you get with medicines? Paracetamol and most medicines or
things you find around the home for that fact are after all potentially
harmful. Adult material is just another substance along with all the
other household things (bleach and the like) that we must keep out of
harms way. 99% of adults are responsible enough to do this. For the
very few that aren't should that spoil it for the rest of us and isn't
it our choice like Bardo says below??
The point is, that the excuses used by the home office are all easily
solved with a bit of brain work...

That is very easily resolved . The "ownership" of aCredit /Debit card
is universally accepted as being proof that you are at least 18 so
buying videos etc using such a card proves that the buyer is 18 . I
also agree it is totally unfair to insist that R18 vids can only be
bought in the UK persoanlly but you can buy from abroad by mail . The
only advantage to customers is that overseas suppliers provide the
real stuff unlike what u get in this country

a hardcore filmm , and no R18 certificate found on it,
so whats this noncense of ntsc films with a R18 cert ???, i thought they
dont have one, there certanlt not on the box or disc..
