Surely not a director's cut? I know Ridley has a habit of making them... But

Isnt it justr the deleted scenes from the original release added into the
film, 17 minutes or so ?

God love him...

Alien is actually one of the very few films I prefer the theatrical to the
directors cut. Daredeveil is the other - Daredevil boned elektra rather than
helping someone in the theatrical, but in the directors cut he shows why he
wears tights and went and helped... :P
