dts es and dd ex - compaablility with players

Do these new 6 channel surround sound work with any dvd player that has dd
and dts digital out or is a new palyer required as well as a new amplifier?

Any DTS/DD DVD player can output a DTS-ES or DD-EX signal, only the
amplifier that has to be compatible to recognise and decode it.

Yes,

DDEX has the extra channel matrixed (bit like prologic) so it will play back
as standard DD5.1 on a non EX decoder
same thind applies with DTS 5.1ES matrixed.

With DTS 6.1 ES Discrete the extra channel is encoded so that a non DTS ES
decoder doesn't see it and so it gets played back as DTS 5.1.

They will work with all players and amps but to actually hear the extra
channels you will need a new amp!
