Hi folks

Just an enquiry...

Do any of you know if ST: Generations on DVD has all the footage in it (the
orbital sky diving, the Geordi torture scene where the implant is in his
heart and the "His heart wasn't in it" line makes sense") or is it still
missing that footage?

Sorry to say, but it's missing in it...

Shame really as the Geordi torture scene would make a couple of things more
understandable...

No!!!!!!!!!!!
Its' Paramount - what do you expect?! There's not even a trailer.

You can probably expect a collector's edition to appear once we've all
bought the movie-only editions.

Er, in fairness to Paramount, you can hardly expect an alternative version
of the film when an exhibitable cut of said alternative version never
existed. Most of the footage mentioned was canned prior to the test
screenings and some of it never even existed (the VFX on the orbital
skydiving sequence weren't finished, one of the reasons the sequence was
cut).

It also goes without saying that finalised multichannel sound mixes for
these parts of the film don't exist either.

It's possible that this stuff may be completed and added to the film at some
point, but bearing in mind its relatively poor financial take (and opinion
among ST fans) I think it's unlikely now.

Getting pissy at Paramount for not including the material on the DVD is more
than a little unfair. If you want to rant in their direction, you could
justifiably complain about how they contrived to produce a DVD that looks
(and arguably sounds) worse than its Laserdisc predecessor.
