Have you checked behind the fridge? If you lose something it's nearly
always there. I'm looking for a pen. Anyone else care to share any
things they've lost?

Lee.

Cool! I looked there (behind the fridge) and I found one! Anyone in need of
some copied movies? :)

There no DVD writers yet, only players. A writer will come out next year.

Complete and utter rubbish.

There are currently two formats available for DVD Writers.

DVD-R and DVD-Ram, and both have been available for a while. DVD-R has been
around nearly as long as DVD, and DVD Ram has been around since the middle
of last year.

The only problem is price.

DVD-R's are still ludicrously expensive, but Pioneer have a new one out soon
that can write the full 4.75 Gb to the disc, for approx $5000.

DVD-Ram is available in the states, but I'm not too sure about here
yet....You can buy one from Creative Labs for $499 and to prove it....

I am waiting for DVD R+W, ain't format wars great! The specs for R+W seem to
say that it has the same capacity as retail DVD's and that they don't need a
caddy. Hope this format wins in the long term. Nobody is shipping it yet, it
is still on the drawing board though. Don't think DVD-RW is shipping yet
either, but is out soon. Anybody got any info.. Apparently the
Matshista/Panasonic (Creative 5x) DVD drives can read DVD-RAM discs.

Well, Panasonic are one of the main supporters of DVD-RAM so I'm not
surprised that their DVD ROM drives can read the discs.... DVD-RAM is going
to be bit of a flash in the pan, though, if you ask me as the discs aren't
compatible with DVD players. DVD-RW, on the other hand, is fully
compatible...

I just can't say anymore except that DVD-RW will be the format for DVD

DVD-RAM is going down a dead road.
