I am guessing your are referring to a PC DVD due to your reference to drive.
Which particular model are you referring to you?

Samsung make pretty good standalone DVD players but their DVD-ROM drives are
cack. We've got a number of Dell PCs at work equipped with Samsung DVD-ROM
drives and they're bleedin' awful - one of them even managed to take a bite
out of a disc! Steer well clear - if you're after a DVD-ROM drive, go for an
AOpen or a Pioneer instead!

My 606 works provided your discs are perfectly clean. even the tiniest spec
will make the player skip around the film or crash the dvd software. The
eject button is a bit pants as well. It is not region locked though which I
am very pleased about.
